What Alejandro Garnacho’s agents are now doing as Man United star makes Napoli decision

Alejandro Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move to Napoli after Manchester United made it clear they would consider offers this month.

Ineos are desperate to raise cash and Alejandro Garnacho is one of Manchester United’s most valuable assets.

In fact, there are only seven United stars worth more than £50m and Garnacho is among those who have been made available this month.

Shocking reports last week claimed United will consider offers for Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. Because of their status as academy stars, their sales would represent pure profit from a PSR perspective.

PSG held talks over Garnacho, but the French giants have fallen behind Napoli in the race for the Argentine winger. Napoli bid £38m for Garnacho this week as they look to replace United target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Alejandro Garnacho’s agents want to lower Man United asking price

Following Napoli’s opening bid, United set a £58m asking price for Garnacho in an attempt to get maximum value from the 20-year-old. Frankly, even that fee seems like a bargain.

United’s asking price is very similar to the £59m Napoli are set to receive from PSG for Kvaratskheilia. Garnacho’s £50,000 per week wages are also very similar to the Georgian’s, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta.

The same report claims that Garnacho has opened up to the idea of joining Napoli and playing at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium alongside former teammate Scott McTominay.

Napoli’s director, Giovanni Manna, reportedly met with Garnacho’s agents in Barcelona for a dinner, where a move to Italy was discussed.

The main stumbling block is United’s asking price, but the report claims Garnacho’s agents are now trying to “soften United’s position” and persuade the club to lower their demands.

However, United will only accept “exceptional” Garnacho offers and have no intention to lower their asking price.

Ruben Amorim wants to keep Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho’s first few weeks under Amorim have not exactly been smooth sailing.

Amorim dropped Garnacho against Manchester City in December in a move that has also pushed Marcus Rashford towards the exit door. According to reports, Garnacho turned his back on Amorim against Plzen which annoyed the head coach.

However, unlike Rashford, Garnacho has worked his way back into Amorim’s squad and he even starred in the FA Cup win over Arsenal this week.

Bruno Fernandes celebrated with Garnacho after the young winger provided the assist for United’s opener.

Amorim has left the door open for Garnacho to stay when he said: “Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players that we build for this club. But we know the position that this club is in at this moment. I really like our players, especially from our academy.”

He added: “I’m really happy with Kobbie – he’s improving. And also with Garna.”
