Bruno Fernandes celebrated in style after opening the scoring for Manchester United against Arsenal.
The Red Devils fought off 14-time FA Cup winners Arsenal to book their spot in the fourth round of the competition.
Ruben Amorim’s first defeat as Manchester United head coach came against the Gunners in early December. A month later, the huge improvements made by the Portuguese were obvious.
United, who were sent down to 10 men following Diogo Dalot’s red card, defended resiliently at The Emirates to take the match to a shootout. Altay Bayindir was United’s penalty hero, capping off a simply incredible performance by denying Declan Rice from 12 yards.
It was a performance full of confidence and determination and Bruno Fernandes’ gesture to Alejandro Garnacho after his goal summed up the brilliant team spirit at United.

What Bruno Fernandes gestured to Alejandro Garnacho
Just a few weeks ago, Garnacho was dropped by Amorim for the Manchester derby and questions were asked about his future at Old Trafford.
Reports this week suggest Napoli have contacted United over Garnacho, who has struggled to find a natural fit in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
However, unlike Marcus Rashford, Garnacho has worked his way back into Amorim’s plans and earned a starting spot against Arsenal.
Garnacho was impressive against Arsenal and picked up his fifth assist of the season after finding Fernandes for the opener.
After scoring, Fernandes ran over to celebrate with the travelling United fans before taking a moment to point at Garnacho’s shirt and push him to the supporters.
It was a classy gesture from the United captain, who wanted his teammate to have a moment in the limelight after a difficult few weeks.
Ruben Amorim has found his leaders at Man United
Ahead of the Arsenal match, Amorim urged United’s leaders to step up and take responsibility.
“We need the leaders to step up to help the other guys – and I’m the most responsible person here to improve the performances,” Amorim said, as quoted by Reuters.
Fernandes was excellent against Liverpool and followed it up by playing the entire 120 minutes against Arsenal. Amorim called for leaders and Fernandes has stepped up.
It is not the first time this season Fernandes shoved Garnacho into the limelight. Against Leicester, Fernandes urged Garnacho to celebrate after scoring an incredible goal from range.
