Man Utd’s firm transfer stance on Ruben Amorim’s ace player could only change if ‘exceptionally high bid comes in’

Manchester United are not expected to ‘entertain offers’ for one first-team player under Ruben Amorim in the January transfer window, according to stunning reports.

Ruben Amorim has hinted that he is likely to see out the remainder of the 2024-25 Premier League season without the arrival of any major signings in January.

The 39-year-old Portuguese succeeded Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager in 2024 after the Dutchman was sacked by the Premier League club.

Amorim has endured a mixed start to life as United head coach, with the Red Devils’ form sporadically changing since his arrival from Sporting CP last November.

Current United first-team players could leave in January or the summer transfer window ahead of Amorim’s rebuild of the Red Devils’ squad.

The Red Devils are also keen to offload players who are surplus to requirement at Old Trafford and free up their wage bill in order to make new signings.

Man Utd star linked with Serie A club

Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford has been brought into question in recent weeks under Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim made the big call in December 2024 to drop Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford from his United squad for the Manchester City match.

The former Sporting CP boss revealed his decision was based on seeing more from both of the aforementioned players rather than being a disciplinary issue.

Garnacho has since fought for his place in the first-team squad and has been brought back into the fold, while Marcus Rashford is linked with a United exit.

The Guardian reported earlier this month that United would be willing to listen to serious offers for youth academy products Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

United fans were left deeply shocked by the club’s stance, with Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo both establishing themselves under former United manager Erik ten Hag.

Mainoo has been heavily linked with Premier League side Chelsea, while Garnacho has seen his name associated with Serie A outfit Napoli.

Man Utd on Garnacho amid Napoli interest

According to The Daily Mail, Alejandro Garnacho being linked with a move to Napoli in the January transfer window is a ‘little wider of the mark.’

The newspaper claims that United are ‘unlikely to entertain offers’ for the 20-year-old Spain-born winger this month, despite the interest around Garnacho.

However, it is believed that the Red Devils could shift their stance if an ‘exceptionally high bid comes in’ for Garnacho in January, which still seems unlikely.

The Daily Mail added that the futures of Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho ‘will be under discussion again’ in the summer if ‘serious offers’ are tabled for the players.

A sale of either United midfielder Mainoo or Red Devils attacker Garnacho would benefit the club’s finances under the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
