How Man United have responded to £38m Alejandro Garnacho bid from European giants

Manchester United chiefs have a difficult decision to make over the future of Alejandro Garnacho.

The 20-year-old returned to Manchester United’s starting lineup against Arsenal for the first time since Ruben Amorim dropped Alejandro Garnacho for the Manchester derby last month.

Unlike Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho has worked his way back into Amorim’s side and he played 80 minutes in the dramatic FA Cup victory over the Gunners.

After his role in setting up the opener, Bruno Fernandes celebrated with Garnacho and made sure he got the appreciation he deserved from the travelling United supporters.

Garnacho has become an example to Rashford after he got his head down and worked his way back into the side. However, there is still a chance that both players leave the club this month.

Napoli submit £38m bid for Alejandro Garnacho

As part of Ineos’ plan to raise cash and overhaul the squad, reports last week claimed United are open to selling Garnacho despite him previously being considered untouchable.

He isn’t a natural fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, although he did prove against Arsenal that he still has plenty to offer in the No.10 role.

With clubs aware that he is available, PSG opened talks over Garnacho but nothing has progressed since. However, Napoli’s director made contact over Garnacho this week and the Italian outfit appear to have a serious interest in getting a deal over the line.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli have now submitted a €45million (£38m) bid for the young winger.

Manager Antonio Conte has made Garnacho a top target and views him as an ideal replacement for United target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has asked to leave this month.

United are interested in Kvaratskhelia but it is PSG who look closest to signing him.

Selling Garnacho would help United’s PSR troubles as he would provide pure profit to club accounts as an academy graduate.

But the Red Devils are also aware that Garnacho is one of the club’s most valuable assets. While Napoli have bid £38m, Pedulla reports that United’s asking price is much higher.

He claims United are asking for closer to £60m to sell Garnacho this month. That places him around the same value as Kvaratskhelia, with Napoli wanting a package worth £67m for the Georgia international.

While Napoli’s opening bid doesn’t seem high enough to tempt United to sell, it is certainly one to watch this month with Conte reportedly putting Garnacho as a top priority.
