Manchester United are expected to utilise the loan market in January, with several youngsters in need of regular senior football.

The Manchester United academy is once again having a special season.

Adam Lawrence’s U18 side are once again looking the best in the country and has won every league game this season. Meanwhile, a number of talented youngsters have successfully stepped up and made U21 football look easy.

This has led to Ethan Wheatley for example being a target for Wrexham on loan at the very top end of League One.

Dan Gore has been tipped for a loan move, while Toby Collyer is attracting interest from Leicester City.

Now, another United academy star could also be set for a Premier League loan.

Harry Amass could go on loan to Leicester City

Harry Amass will be incredibly disappointed with how poorly his season has gone. During pre-season, Amass was compared with Luke Shaw, and tipped to be a breakout talent this season but hasn’t made a single first-team appearance.

Amass therefore is tipped to head on loan in January, with a Championship move long expected – but now it appears he could be getting interest from Premier League clubs.

According to reliable United academy news X account MUFC Academy, league rivals Leicester City are interested in signing Amass.

Interest has not led to an offer yet, with Championship and League One clubs also keen on the 17-year-old.

Amass is said to have been in line for his debut before Erik ten Hag’s exit from the club, with his chances now diminished.

One thing going against Leicester is that United are said to favour loans based on assured game time for the prospects – which the Foxes may not be able to promise.

This claim has since been supported by the Mail Online who have reported Van Nistelrooy’s interest in Amass.

Ruud van Nistelrooy admitted he would use his United connections in order to strengthen his Leicester side in January and Amass at left-back would be an interesting choice.

Is Amass ready for Premier League football?

Despite being a fond believer in the youth and being excited by the special potential Amass has at his disposal, it is a surprise to see interest from Leicester.

Amass is largely unproven at a senior level, despite some dominant performances in the EFL Trophy which no doubt put him in the spotlight for teams needing a temporary left-back solution.

Amass impressed during the summer against elite opposition as he started against Real Betis and Liverpool with impressive performances – particularly against the La Liga side.

However, the Premier League would be a big step up.

That being said, Amass is a player we’ve called upon United to use in the league this season, so if Leicester are going to play him, it seems likely he will go there and impress.

It would be a very beneficial loan for Amass.
