Manchester United’s U18s pulled out a routine 5-0 win on Thursday night, beating Coventry in the FA Youth Cup.
It says an awful lot about how brilliant this U18 side is, that a 5-0 win is probably an understatement of the dominance.
Adam Lawrence has turned this academy side into a winning machine, with the past six games being incredible with a record of six wins, 28 goals scored and zero conceded.
Manchester United boast an impressive group of youngsters and they were in fine form on Wednesday. Chido Obi scored twice, impressing United fans with his finishing.
Meanwhile, Gabriele Biancheri scored a hat-trick for United and after the game Lawrence has revealed what the youngster told him.

Gabriele Biancheri shows elite mentality after 5-0 Manchester United win
After the brilliant win, U18 head coach Lawrence was in front of the MUTV cameras and discussing his side’s seventh straight win in all competitions.
When asked about the brilliant Biancheri’s hat-trick, Lawrence remarked on what the Wales U19 striker said to him straight after the match.
“Yeah, the first thing he [Biancheri] said to me at the end of the game was ‘I should have scored six’.”
Biancheri also stated this on his Instagram, which shows the youngster’s elite mentality. To score three and wish he’d doubled it demonstrates how hungry he is and how high of a standard he holds himself to.
In the game, Biancheri was also deployed in an unfamiliar position, as Lawrence has also explained after the match.

Adam Lawrence admits he is working on patterns which actually resemble Ruben Amorim
Interestingly, after the game, Lawrence also explained the line-up for United and why Biancheri was on the left.
“Gabe started off the left, but we have done some work with him when we had the ball with Harry Amass playing higher and Gabe closer to Chido.

“They’re both number nines so we were trying to find a way where they were both in the team and we could utilise both of their qualities.
“I think the way they played together and their understanding was really good. We’re always trying to find the best way we can play on the pitch.
“Goals apart and both had good games.”
From the sounds of this, it would appear Lawrence deployed a left side of attack which resembled Ruben Amorim’s work with the senior players.
Amass as a wing-back and Biancheri almost in the Bruno Fernandes role was new for the U18s and showed Lawrence’s tactical flexibility.
This will also bode well for the youngsters as they are all trying to impress Amorim and by playing roles similar to those in the first-team, the head coach will be able to envision them better.
