Harry Amass appears to be the next big superstar to be coming out of Manchester United’s academy ranks.

The young full-back is making waves in the academy setup, and impressed on the USA pre-season tour 2024. He is now on the verge of a first team breakthrough at Old Trafford.

Potentially Luke Shaw‘s successor – Erik ten Hag needs to take note of the bombing full-back. He looks destined for stardom in 2024/25.

Who is Harry Amass?

Harry Amass is a professional footballer who plays for Manchester United. Manchester United completed a deal for a highly-rated Watford teenager in August 2023.

Amass currently features in Manchester United’s academy ranks, predominantly for the under-18s. He looks to be the next bright spark regarding a left-back at the club.

Most recently, he had a dazzling performance against Arsenal in the cup, which has led fans to take note of him. He could seriously be Luke Shaw‘s long-term replacement and also could have been the reason why the Red Devils were so comfortable with letting Alvaro Fernandez depart.

After impressing in 2024 pre-season, Amass is currently considered as part of the first team squad.

He made his Manchester United debut in 2025 under Ruben Amorim, and went on to play in the Europa League.

Where and when was Harry Amass born?

Amass was born on the 16th of March 2007, making him 17 years old.

He was born in England and has already featured for his national side at youth level, playing for multiple age groups as high as the Under-17s.

What position does Harry Amass play?

Amass is a left-back by trade and has locked that position down for Manchester United‘s under-18s. So far, this has been the only spot on the pitch he’s been deployed in.

How good is Harry Amass?

At just 17 years old, Amass is looking like a bit of a star in the making.

He has excellent technical ability on the ball, and his final third play is brilliant. He also looks nimble and quick, a great trait to have in a modern-day full-back.

Amass stands at 1.81 m or 5.9. His height makes him perfect as a nimble, bombing full-back. He does love to get forward – but can definitely still hold himself defensively.

Before Manchester United, Amass was part of Watford’s academy setup. He joined The Hornets at the age of nine and played at pretty much every level in the youth setup up to the under 23s despite his age.

Due to his phenomenal progression and undeniable talent, Amass was included in a first-team squad for the first time in January 2023, at the age of just fifteen.

He was named on the bench for an FA Cup third-round fixture against Championship side Reading, though he did not feature in the 2–0 away loss. Amass linked up with the Red Devils later that year in August 2023.
