Erik ten Hag’s prediction set to come true as Harry Amass tipped to make Man United debut vs PAOK

Manchester United academy star Harry Amass may finally get his chance in the first team.

Left-back has been a problem area for Manchester United for a few years now.

Luke Shaw is still yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils this season. The 29-year-old is world-class when available, but his injury woes have left United short of options again and again.

The same can be said of Tyrell Malacia, who has gone over a year without making an appearance for United as he continues to recover from his injury setback.

Shaw is set to return shortly for United, while Malacia was spotted back in training in October and is also nearing a return.

One option that has been staring United in the face is academy star Harry Amass, and it seems he may now get his shot under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Harry Amass could be set for Man United debut vs PAOK

United resume their Europa League campaign on Thursday evening in what will be Van Nistelrooy’s penultimate game as interim manager.

It will be a chance for the Dutchman to rotate the side with a quick turnaround to the Premier League clash against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Amass was included in Van Nistelrooy’s squad vs Chelsea last weekend but did not come off the bench to make his debut.

According to the Daily Mail, Amass has been “earmarked for minutes” which will likely come off the bench against PAOK on Thursday evening.

However, Amass has not been spotted in training so far and is expected to feature in the Uefa Youth League on Wednesday evening.

Ten Hag was urged to give Amass his debut earlier this season, but the Dutchman did not want to throw him into action too early.

Erik ten Hag made Harry Amass prediction in pre-season

Amass was a shining light in United’s pre-season tour, with the young left-back featuring in multiple matches over the summer.

Ten Hag pointed out Amass’ potential following his pre-season performance against Liverpool, but insisted he had to improve before making his breakthrough.

Amass has been compared to Shaw due to his incredible ability going forward, but it seems Ten Hag still had his concerns about introducing him to the squad at such a young age.

Incredibly, Ten Hag said Amass needed three months of development before being handed his debut.

When did he say that? In August – exactly three months ago.

It seems Ten Hag’s prediction is set to come true if Van Nistelrooy puts his faith in the young left-back to feature against PAOK.
