Add as preferred source on Google

Like much of the transfer window, deadline day was busy for Manchester United.

Friday saw Manchester United complete a handful of transfers and loans, with two arrivals being Manuel Ugarte from PSG and then also Sekou Kone from FC Guidars.

Exits were also completed, with Scott McTominay being sold to Napoli and then Jadon Sancho heading on loan with an obligation to buy to Chelsea

.This rounded out a strong first summer at the helm for Ineos.

Here is how we have rated every first-team sale, loan and signing Manchester United completed.

Manchester United made several excellent signings

Manchester United have had a very strong summer, with some excellent additions arriving at Carrington.

Joshua Zirkzee – 8

Joshua Zirkzee joined in a move which strengthened the striking options for Ten Hag alongside Rasmus Hojlund. He has already scored his inaugural goal for United and looks to be a strong addition to the ranks.

Leny Yoro – 10

It is still annoying that Leny Yoro picked up an injury on his second come for United, but in the long term, he will be a phenomenal addition to the club and potentially a future world-beater.

Matthijs de Ligt -7

Matthijs de Ligt is an exciting defender to sign considering we know how good he can be. But it is a risk at this point in his career – hence the lower rating – although we do back him and Erik ten Hag to make it a success.

Noussair Mazraoui – 8

Noussair Mazraoui has already proven himself a handy signing for Manchester United to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka – and he is also a far better fit for the way United want to play.

Manuel Ugarte – 8

Signed on transfer deadline day, Ugarte could be a season-defining addition in midfield. Casemiro has shown his legs cannot handle the role anymore and now Ugarte will likely take over.

Sekou Kone – 10

The final addition is exciting Malian teenager Sekou Kone who arrived on deadline day. Kone will initially be an academy player, but it is expected that he will be signed for the senior team which is very exciting. Therefore he gets the highest possible rating.

Aside from the confirmed arrivals, United are also awaiting ratification over the deals to bring Samuel Lusale and Chido Obi Martin to the club.

Ineos’ summer clear-out rated

Along with some really good incomings, United also had a long overdue clear-out this summer.

Alvaro Fernandez – 7

Many viewed Alvaro Fernandez as a future first-team star at Manchester United, but ultimately with Harry Amass coming through, the Spaniard really had no place in the first-team long-term.

Donny van de Beek – 6

For Donny van de Beek, an exit had to be secured by any means this summer and he got that with a move to Girona. However, the fee is a sticking point, with just £500k guaranteed it means United face a catastrophic loss

Willy Kambwala – 6

When Willy Kambwala broke through last season, it would have been safe to assume he was set for a bigger role in 2024/25. However, to the surprise of many, he has now been sold to Villareal which is a little disappointing – although ultimately expected given the quality of defenders signed this summer.

Mason Greenwood – 6

Mason Greenwood has already shown serious quality for Marseille since moving, but ultimately there was really no way back for him at the club. Ineos did well to get such a good deal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 4

Selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a decision which can only be regretted, with no other player having the qualities he has in terms of his defensive ability. When we face West Ham, he will make life a misery for whoever our left-winger is on the day.

Facundo Pellistri – 7

Facundo Pellistri has been an instant hit in Greece at Panathinaikos, but it was the right decision to sell him as he’s proven that he was not ready for Manchester United.

Scott McTominay – 6

Scott McTominay has now made the move to Napoli and we are delighted for him as it could give his career an entirely different trajectory. That being said it is sad to see him go, with his status as an academy graduate and growing impact in games with goals.

Jadon Sancho – 10

Arguably the best move of the summer for Manchester United was getting rid of Jadon Sancho. He had become a problem which the club just had to draw a line under and with the obligation to buy, it means we will not see him at the club again.
