Jadon Sancho departs Manchester United as his move to Chelsea is now complete.
The Jadon Sancho saga at Manchester United is now over. The winger departs to Chelsea, initially on loan with an obligation to buy for the Stamford Bridge outlet.
Sancho scored 12 goals and contributed six assists in 83 games for United since signing from Dortmund for £73m three years ago. Not exactly a glamorous return.
Late into the early hours of the morning on deadline day, Manchester United officially confirmed he was to now leave the club.

Jadon Sancho departs Manchester United for Chelsea
The Athletic report Jadon Sancho’s move from Manchester United to Chelsea is now complete.
Sancho spent the second half of last season at Borussia Dortmund after falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.
The pair patched up their differences during pre-season, but Sancho failed to make the bench for either of United’s first two games.
Now it is time to move on, and Sancho won’t be lining up for United again. The loan terms mean he will be ineligible to face United in the Premier League this season.
Sancho obligation fee and wage coverage
Following one season on loan to Chelsea, the official fee United will receive for Sancho in a year will be between £20-25 million dependent on performance milestones. This will rise or fall dependent on Chelsea’s finishing position.
Considering the £73m United splashed on Sancho in 2021 – you can’t help but feel a little disappointed at how it has all worked out. A £50m loss.
In terms of wages, Chelsea are covering ‘the majority’ of Jadon Sancho’s salary – a positive for United negotiated at the expense of a loan fee.
If Sancho is to re-find form of old at Stamford Bridge, the eventual fee could prove an absolute bargain for the Blues. However, given his lacklustre performances in red, it could also backfire on their behalf.
Time will tell as to whether the 24-year-old rekindles his footballing spark, but there’s one certainty in all this – it won’t be at Manchester United.
