Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte has finally been confirmed as a Manchester United player.
After a long transfer saga which dragged on far longer than it should have done, Manuel Ugarte has been confirmed as a Manchester United player.
Ugarte, 23, becomes United’s fifth summer signing, following Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.
The midfielder is set to become the fifth Uruguayan player to represent Manchester United.

Manuel Ugarte deal done
Sporting director Dan Ashworth told club media: “Signing Manuel was another of our primary targets for this summer.
“He is among the very best ball-winning midfield players in the world and has an excellent record at both club and international level.
“His qualities, experience and passion will be a great complement to our strong group of midfielders.
“Manuel is a player we’ve watched closely, and we are excited to see the positive impact he will make on the pitch and in the dressing room as we continue to strive for success.”
United’s long Ugarte wait
While the fee was agreed with PSG earlier in the week, United only annouced the deal within 90 minutes of the transfer deadline.
Ugarte has not been signed in time to play against Liverpool – but he has also not played a match since the Copa America, so needs to build up his fitness.
Manchester United agreed personal terms for Manuel Ugarte back in July. But it took United a long time to reach an agreement with PSG.
After an opening offer of just £30 million, Manchester United agreed a fee of £42.2 million, which could rise to £50 million with add-ons.
Ugarte starred at the Copa America for Uruguay, and he adds energy and defensive cover to United’s midfield.
Barring a late surprise, Ugarte could be the final major move United make this transfer window.
