Manchester United have had a very busy few months of incomings and outgoings in summer 2024.
It is the first summer transfer window in which Ineos will be pulling the strings, with new technical director Jason Wilcox already appointed.
Chief executive Omar Berrada began work on July 13, with a deal for sporting director Dan Ashworth concluded around the same time.

Transfers in
- Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Joshua Zirkzee. The Bologna forward joins for a fee of £36 million. The deal was confirmed on July 14.
- Manchester United have completed the move to sign Leny Yoro. The Lille centre-back signs for a fee reaching £52 million. The deal was confirmed on July 18.
- Manchester United have signed centre-back Matthijs de Ligt. The Bayern Munich star signs for a fee of £38 million. The deal was confirmed on August 13.
- Manchester United have signed right-back Noussair Mazraoui. He also joins from Bayern Munich for £12 million. The deal was also confirmed on August 13.
- Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Manuel Ugarte. He signs from PSG for £42 million. The deal was confirmed on August 30.
Transfers out
- Alvaro Fernandez has signed permanently with Benfica for £5 million. The deal was agreed on May 23.
- Donny van de Beek has signed for Girona on a permanent basis. United will get an initial £500,000 which could reach £10 million if all add-on clauses are met. The deal was confirmed on July 10.
- Willy Kambwala has left Manchester United to sign with Villarreal. United receive £4.6 million up front which could rise to £10 million with add-ons. The deal was confirmed on July 15.
- Mason Greenwood has been sold to French club Marseille, for an initial fee of £23 million. The deal was confirmed on July 18.
- Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been sold to West Ham United for £15 million. The deal was confirmed on August 13.
- Facundo Pellistri has been sold to Panathinaikos for £5 million. Add-ons and a sell-on clause are included. The deal was confirmed on August 21.
- Maxi Oyedele has been sold to Legia Warsaw. United have a sell-on clause. The deal was confirmed on August 22.
- Will Fish has been sold to Cardiff City. The £1 million fee could reach £3 million and includes a sell-on clause. The deal was confirmed on August 23.
- Hannibal Mejbri has been sold to Burnley for a fee reaching £5.4 million rising to 9.4 million. The deal includes a sell-on clause. It was confirmed on August 28.
- Scott McTominay has been sold to Napoli for £25.7 million. United have a 10 per cent sell-on clause. The deal was confirmed on August 30.
Out on loan
- Joe Hugill has been sent on loan to Wigan for the entire 2024/25 season. The deal was confirmed on July 25.
- Tom Wooster has signed on loan with National League North side Farsley Athletic. The deal was confirmed on August 9.
- Radek Vitek has joined Austrian top flight side BW Linz on a season long loan. The deal was confirmed on August 21.
- Rhys Bennett has signed for Fleetwood Town on loan. The deal was confirmed on August 29.
- Elyh Harrison has signed on loan with Chester. The deal was confirmed on August 30.
- Sonny Aljofree has signed with Accrington Stanley on loan. The deal was confirmed on August 30.
- James Nolan has joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle on loan. The deal was confirmed on August 30
- Jadon Sancho has signed with Chelsea on loan, with an obligation to buy.
- Tom Myles has signed on loan with non-league Runcorn Linnets.
Releases
- Raphael Varane has left Manchester United on a free transfer. The World Cup winner announced his exit on May 14. He has signed with Serie A side Como.
- Charlie McNeill also announced he will leave the club at the end of the season. This was confirmed on May 24. He has signed with Sheffield Wednesday.
- Anthony Martial confirmed his exit, with his contract expiring after nine years at the club. He announced his departure on May 27.
- Brandon Williams is another not to have his contract renewed. This was confirmed as Manchester United announced their retained list on May 5.
- Omari Forson has left Manchester United on a free transfer, he has signed with Italian side Monza, confirmed on June 11.
- Shola Shoretire has left Manchester United on a free transfer. He has signed with Greek side PAOK.
- Under-18s players Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley also waved goodbye to the Red Devils.
Loan deals expired
Sofyan Amrabat‘s loan deal expired at the end of June 2024. He has returned to Fiorentina.
Academy signings
Manchester United have signed left-back Dante Plunkett from Aston Villa. He confirmed the move following a successful trial.
Another young addition is teenage striker Silva Mexes, who has joined from Ipswich Town.
United are also signing Australian full-back James Overy, beating competition from Premier League rivals for his signature.
The club have also agreed to sign teenage striker Camron M’Pofu, who joins from Reading.
United confirmed the signing of Mali youth international Sekou Kone. He joins for £1 million from Guidars FC.
Deals are awaiting confirmation for Chido Obi-Martin and Samuel Lusale. PA reports they are just awaiting Premier League ratification.
United have also signed add free agent goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk, who is now part of the under-21 squad.
