Marcus Rashford looks likely to leave Manchester United but his options keep falling away.
Last week it was confirmed that Barcelona won’t sign Marcus Rashford permanently despite having a £26 million buy option.
Instead, Barcelona signed Anthony Gordon for £68 million and now Rashford is set to return to Manchester United for pre-season training.
It seems that Rashford won’t be reintegrated into Michael Carrick’s squad, so a move away is expected. But Ruben Amorim being hired by AC Milan means another option has been eliminated.

Marcus Rashford’s AC Milan links ended by Ruben Amorim
Back in January, 2025, Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard held “exploratory talks” with AC Milan over a potential transfer.
Milan were showing interest in Rashford as a forward option and explored a loan deal when he became available.
This summer, Rashford is available again, and because of United’s links to Rafael Leao, the Italian side may need reinforcements up front.
However, Amorim’s imminent arrival at the San Siro will end any AC Milan links before they have a chance to re-emerge.

What happened between Ruben Amorim and Marcus Rashford
At the end of 2024, Amorim left Rashford out of the Manchester derby and criticised his workrate in training.
Just days later, Rashford dropped a bombshell interview revealing that he wanted to leave the club after being dropped by Amorim.
Amorim made brutal comments about Rashford’s effort and attitude, and famously said he would rather play his goalkeeping coach “before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”

Rashford ended up leaving the club to join Aston Villa on loan and then to Barcelona.
Now Amorim has left Old Trafford, but the damage has been done and there seems to be no way back for Rashford.
