Manchester United put in a poor performance against Brighton – and Marcus Rashford was brought up afterwards.
As many predicted, Manchester United fell to defeat at home to Brighton. The Seagulls have been a problem team for the Red Devils in recent season.
This is the third year in a row United have lost at home to Brighton, so the defeat is not unique to current boss Ruben Amorim.
Yet Amorim is not shying away from United’s dire situation, admitting post-game: “We are being the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United.”

Amorim responds to Rashford question
Even though the answer is well-established at this stage, reporters continue to ask Ruben Amorim about Marcus Rashford.
Rashford has not played for United since the win over Plzen. He was dropped to the derby and has not been re-integrated into the squad, although did make the bench once.
After the game Amorim made clear United’s problems are not Rashford’s fault, nor Rashford related.
He said: “In this moment, Rashford is not here and, in the last games that we lost, Rashford was not here. I don’t want to put this moment on Rashford.”
And then he came to what he believes is the crux of the Rashford issue – that he would not help.
Amorim said: “Rashford is out of this moment because he’s not playing.
“No matter what, I’m not going to put in a player I don’t believe is best for the team.”
Amorim’s comments are indicative, he believes Rashford would not be best for United, whether he means performance-wise, or in terms of the dressing room.

Amorim’s strongest criticism yet
Ruben Amorim’s first goal as Manchester United boss was scored by Marcus Rashford against Ipswich.
But right after the game, Amorim admitted Rashford was not cut out to be a central striker. A fortnight later, it all fell apart.
Rashford was axed for the City game for off-field issues, and he later gave an interview expressing his desire to leave.
Amorim always made clear that there was a chance for Rashford to fight for his spot, but his summary of the current situation is that he just is not seeing that.
Right now with Rashford negotiating an exit, it’s clear there the club and players’ paths are diverging.
Amorim’s comments indicate he is not calling the forward up any time soon, and it really does look like it’s over for club and player.
