Marcus Rashford reacted immediately after news broke that Barcelona will not trigger his buy clause.
The £26 million buy clause inserted into Marcus Rashford’s loan deal to Barcelona was valid until June 15.
However, it was revealed on Wednesday that Barcelona will not buy Rashford, or at least not for £26 million, anyway.
The Catalan club have made their decision just weeks after Rashford says he wants to stay at Barcelona permanently.

Marcus Rashford removes Barcelona from social media
Rashford made it clear that he loved playing for Barcelona and that he wanted to stay at Camp Nou, but clearly the decision-makers at the Spanish giants didn’t reciprocate that feeling.
Instead, Barcelona signed Anthony Gordon in Rashford’s position, and now it looks increasingly unlikely that there is also space for Rashford to join them.
As soon as the news broke of Barcelona not buying Rashford, the 28-year-old reacted immediately on social media.
On all of Rashford’s social media channels, including X and Instagram, he has removed the link to Barcelona in his bio. His photos have also been changed to him in an England kit.

Marcus Rashford reaction suggests tension with Barcelona
Considering that Rashford is in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, it makes sense that his social media profiles reflect his current focus.
However, it is not a reach to suggest that Rashford’s instant reaction on social media to the news suggests a bit of tension and a frosty relationship.
Rashford clearly felt he was a success at Barcelona, and his 28 goal contributions in 2025/26 would back up his argument.
