Marcus Rashford has been left waiting about a Barcelona move and he is now preparing to return to Manchester United.
It is no secret that Marcus Rashford wants to stay at Barcelona after playing for the Spanish giants on loan in 2025/26 – he said so himself.
But Barcelona have signed Anthony Gordon to fill their winger position, and they refuse to pay the £26m buy option for Marcus Rashford.
Reports earlier this week claimed Rashford has no interest in returning to United, but the 28-year-old accepts that his pre-season could be spent with the Red Devils.

According to The Times, Rashford accepts that he may have to return to United for pre-season training.
Rashford is contracted to United until 2028, and his buy clause with Barcelona expires in mid-June. If talks continue throughout the summer, he will be expected to return to Carrington.
United’s pre-season schedule in 2026 includes a tour of Europe, with players expected to return at different dates depending on their participation in the World Cup.
Rashford is in the England squad for the World Cup, so his pre-season schedule will depend on how far the Three Lions progress in the tournament.
But United’s pre-season fixtures begin on July 18, just one day before the World Cup final is set to take place. Rashford could be back at United for the first summer fixture against Wrexham, although how involved he is in Carrick’s planning is yet to be seen.

If Rashford does return for United’s pre-season training, Carrick and his staff face a difficult decision.
Ultimately, they must decide whether to reintegrate Rashford, or not.
Ruben Amorim controversially created a ‘bomb squad’ of unwanted players last pre-season, keeping them away from the first-team squad he was planning to progress with.

Carrick could either keep Rashford away from the main group and wait for him to find a new club, or try to bring him back into the picture and involve him in training and matches.
United fans are split about welcoming Rashford back, so either way it is a decision that will split supporters.
