Ruben Amorim and Ineos will have to work with a tight transfer budget at Manchester United over the summer transfer window.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed Manchester United were going bust by the end of the year before Ineos stepped in with their cost-cutting measures.
So any fans expecting a big summer spending spree can think again. Instead, Ineos want to raise over £100m in sales this summer to try and boost the budget.
Ruben Amorim will be desperate for reinforcements this summer, especially up front after United’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wolves exposed a misfiring forward line.
United will also need to strengthen other areas across the pitch, but Amorim is creatively finding ways to save money in the summer.
Tyler Fredricson can become key for Ruben Amorim
With nothing left to play for in the Premier League, Amorim confirmed he will risk academy players in the remaining fixtures this season.
He kept to his word against Wolves, with Tyler Fredricson impressing on his debut at Old Trafford. There was also a start for Harry Amass, who was United’s best player on the day.
Fredricson played the full 90 minutes at centre-back, on the left of the back three. Not only was he incredibly calm and composed in possession, but he rose to the physical challenge of keeping Jorgen Strand Larsen quiet.
Amorim heaped praise on Fredricson for his impressive debut, and the 20-year-old can expect to stay put in the first team for the remaining league fixtures.
Fredricson can then look forward to United’s post-season tour of Asia where he will hope to consolidate his position as a regular first-team member.
Ineos can now abandon £70m Jarrad Branthwaite deal
With Fredricson now breaking into the first team, Amorim has plenty of exciting options to choose from in defence.
Ayden Heaven has started brilliantly at United following his move from Arsenal, while Godwill Kukonki has been promoted by Amorim and looks to be next in line for a senior debut.
With so many exciting centre-back options, Ineos can now afford to turn their attention away from long-term target Jarrad Branthwaite.

United made several bids for Branthwaite in the summer but Everton stood firm with their £70m asking price for the English defender.
Amorim’s genius decision to promote Fredricson and Kukonki this season, alongside the brilliant £1m deal for Heaven means that Ineos can allocate more of the summer budget to signing forwards.
