Manchester United have eyed a move for Jarrad Branthwaite for a long time.

A huge summer awaits Everton with fellow Premier League clubs eyeing up moves for their best players.

Jarrad Branthwaite is one player certain to attract interest when the transfer window opens.

The 22-year-old has a deal running until 2027, but Everton has the option to extend that by another year.

According to The Sun, senior figures at Everton have already accepted that Branthwaite will leave this summer, which is the biggest sign yet that the club are willing to accept an offer.

This news will put United on red alert because they failed in a bid to sign the England U21 international last summer.

The report adds that the Toffees rejected a significant bid from a Premier League rival for Branthwaite on deadline day in January.

It remains to be seen if United will return this summer with a fresh bid as they look to build a squad capable of winning major honours under Ruben Amorim.

The report states that Everton value Branthwaite at over £50m, which is considerably less than what the Merseyside club demanded a year ago.

David Moyes verdict on potential Branthwaite transfer

Everton manager David Moyes wants to keep hold of Branthwaite this summer because he knows how much the defender’s departure would impact the team.

The Scot offered a defiant response to suggestions Branthwaite needed to leave Everton in order to make Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

Branthwaite missed out on a call up for the March international break and Sky Sports were quick to suggest that it would influence his decision to move on this summer.

“I would say to him – Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Joleon Lescott,” Moyes said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“That’s three who were brought in who went on to become internationals for England, which was a great achievement.

“Jarrad is in the position that he can easily go on and do that. I think it’s a challenge for Jarrad to pick it up and say, ‘Come on, let me show what I can do’.

“This club has developed a number of internationals over the years and we’ve got a very good goalkeeper [Jordan Pickford] playing for England as well.”

Interestingly, Moyes tried to sign one of the examples he used when he was in charge of United, but Leighton Baines remained at Goodison Park.
