Manchester United could reignite interest in a former transfer target who was once at the top of Ineos’ shopping list.

With Erik ten Hag at the helm, Ineos spent over £200m on five new signings in the summer and have since added Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven in January.

In the summer, United submit several bids for Jarrad Branthwaite but were unable to get a deal over the line for the 22-year-old defender.

Everton valued Branthwaite at £70million but The Sun report that the asking price has since dropped to around £50m.

Branthwaite has resisted a new deal at Everton, meaning he now only has two years left on his deal. The more it ticks down, the more his value drops.

With Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans likely to leave in the summer, Amorim will need reinforcements at centre-back.

Therefore, United could reignite interest in Branthwaite in the summer.

Why Jarrad Branthwaite is now considering Everton exit

There was a growing belief at Goodison Park that the Everton takeover will help keep Branthwaite, but it seems he is having second thoughts.

According to Sky Sports, Jarrad Branthwaite will consider his future at Everton after being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.

Branthwaite still only has one England cap to his name and he narrowly missed out on a place in the Euro 2024 squad in the summer.
