Cristiano Ronaldo is a player who attracts worldwide attention, and rightly so. He is a player who transcends football into the wider world of sport and culture, where people know who he is even if they have never seen him play.

So his return to Manchester United has made huge news around the world, to the point that the club will be wondering why they didn’t do it sooner.

Ronaldo is enjoying being back in Manchester, and has been updating his 340 million Instagram followers on his every move.

Ronaldo shared images from training at Carrington, showing off his running.

Ronaldo received a message from Olympic medal winning sprinter Yohan Blake, giving a positive verdict on the Manchester United star’s running.

Blake gave a glowing assessment of Ronaldo, who at 36, looks at least 10 years younger.

Usain Bolt weighs in

Blake was not the only Jamaican sprinter to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United.

World record holder Usain Bolt spoke out to say he believes Ronaldo still has to offer the football world.

Bolt told BBC Sport: “It’s a massive deal to see him back.

“Cristiano demands a lot, so he will demand a lot from these players and it will only make them better. He’s on a different level, he is a machine.

“I think he will play until he’s 42 because he will always be so fit and on a higher level to a lot of the younger players because of the work he puts in and the dedication he has.”

Ronaldo has a deal with United which will run until he is 39. It would surprise nobody if he can go on for longer.

Porto striker Toni Martinez told Mais Futebol this week he believes Ronaldo could play until he is 50.

So long as he is at Manchester United, long may it last.
