Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why Edinson Cavani is not in his squad for Manchester United’s clash with Newcastle.
Cavani is not even on the bench, and Solskjaer says it is because he has picked up a knock in training.
Solskjaer says United’s new number 21 still needs to build up his fitness. He has made just one substitute appearance so far this season.

Not ready yet
Speaking to the club website just before kick-off, Solskjaer said: “He’s still not ready.
“He got a little knock in training, so hopefully won’t be too long.”
It is possible then that Cavani is part of the squad which travels to Switzerland for the game with Young Boys on Tuesday.
United will have to make a quick decision, with the team set to travel on Monday.
If Cavani was fully fit, United could have chosen to start Ronaldo on the bench against Newcastle and ease him in.
Instead Ronaldo gets the full start, and supporters will be very happy with that.
Cavani will get his moments, but no doubt, this is Ronaldo’s day, and soon enough we could see the pair playing together and terrorising defences.
Speaking about Ronaldo, Solskjaer added: “He’s ready, he’s focused, professional as always and meticulous in everything he does.
“You look at him and what he’s achieved in his career. He wants to prove to him and not just me what he can do.”
