I was desperate for Man United to sign Eduardo Camavinga, but his latest Real Madrid decision is a worry

Real Madrid are ready to sell Eduardo Camavinga this summer but Manchester United will want to see some desire from the player.

Since Ineos took charge of Manchester United’s transfer business, they have put emphasis on signing players who are “desperate” to move to Old Trafford.

Last summer, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all rejected other clubs to join United. This summer, Youri Tielemans finally got his ‘dream’ move to United.

United are being linked with Eduardo Camavinga and a move for the Real Madrid midfielder looks possible, but the 23-year-old isn’t showing the eagerness that Ineos will want.

Man Utd are still being linked with a late swoop for Aurelien Tchouameni: Should we still be pursuing this?

If there is any chance Tchouameni is available, should he be our number one target?

Eduardo Camavinga is focused on Real Madrid

Just one week ago, I urged United to go all-in for Camavinga if it became clear he was up for sale.

According to Marca, Real Madrid have put Camavinga on the transfer list and are willing to listen to offers this summer.

That should be great news for United and Ineos.

But the report also states that Camavinga is “focused solely on changing his situation” in Spain, and is not giving up on his Madrid spot.

United’s biggest transfer successes have come from players who push to make the move to Old Trafford, not those who see it as a second option.

If Camavinga’s heart is still in Madrid, then I can forgive Ineos for moving on to other targets.

Man United could give up Eduardo Camavinga chase

This is not the first time we have heard that Camavinga’s priority is Madrid, and that is significant.

The player doesn’t want to move, and it seems as though he’d view joining United as a step down.

With Ineos planning to win a Premier League title in the next two years, United need players wholly committed to the project at Old Trafford.

While Camavinga’s style of play is exactly what United need, there are other alternatives available in the market.

Ineos deserve trust from supporters when it comes to transfers, and while I would love to see Camavinga wearing red next season, I’m warming to the idea of moving on.
