Youri Tielemans’ transfer could pay off in a spectacular way if the Manchester United summer signing ‘fixes’ one issue for the Red Devils after Casemiro’s club exit.
Casemiro spent four seasons at the Premier League club before the 34-year-old five-time Champions League winner left Old Trafford this summer.
Signing under Erik ten Hag back in 2022 after his exit from Real Madrid, Casemiro enjoyed both the highs and lows during his spell at Manchester United.
Casemiro was fortunate to end his time at the Red Devils on a high note after his resurgence in form last season showed the major task in finding his replacement.

Wes Brown’s point about Youri Tielemans and Casemiro proves why Man Utd cannot paint over their missing midfield ‘experience’
Youri Tielemans had his release clause of £35m triggered and the 29-year-old Belgium international arrived at Old Trafford as Ineos’ second key summer signing.
There have been concerns around the Belgian midfielder’s age, as Tielemans turned 29 in May ahead of this summer’s World Cup with the Belgium national team.
Tielemans also saw his 2025-26 campaign with Aston Villa disrupted by injuries, with calf problems and an ankle injury leading him to miss 23 matches last season.
While there are valid arguments to be made around Tielemans’ age and injuries, Wes Brown has shown why the ex-Villa midfielder was more important than ever.
Speaking on BBC Radio Manchester, Wes Brown quickly pointed out that Tielemans was a brilliant “bargain” after United lost major “experience” with Casemiro’s exit.
“I like that one. We’re missing Casemiro now with his experience,” he said, as per BBC Sport.
“We’re signing two [midfielders] and one of them being Tielemans for £35m is a great bargain for me.
“Yes, he is a little bit older, but he has got the experience, knows about the Premier League and I think he can bring a lot to the team.
“I think he is a Man Utd fan with what I’m hearing on the grapevine.”

Youri Tielemans’ experience will be coupled with his understanding of the Man Utd philosophy under Michael Carrick
Casemiro might have faced criticism for his run of form at times, especially after Man Utd’s huge transfer fee and wages for the Brazil international when they signed him.
However, the new Inter Miami midfielder showed how invaluable experience can be when it was needed and Michael Carrick very much relied on it at United last season.
Wes Brown added that Tielemans has a connection to Man Utd beyond past transfer links, mainly for his ‘understanding’ of what makes the Red Devils the club that they are.
“He understands [that] about the club and I’m glad he is excited to be coming,” he continued.
“That’s the sort of character that the club needs going forward.”
With Michael Carrick’s permanent appointment at Man Utd acting as almost a ‘soft reset’ for Ineos, Tielemans’ experience will be vital going into the new season.
