While Cristiano Ronaldo’s official age is 36, he looks like he could be 26.
Ronaldo finished as top scorer in Serie A last season and has signed a contract at Manchester United which could be extended to three years.
United’s former fitness coach Mick Clegg last year told Talksport that Ronaldo could surpass Ryan Giggs and play until he is 41.
Now a current footballer is backing Ronaldo to go on considerably longer.
He would be the greatest
Porto striker Toni Martinez is a Spain under-21 international and after a strong start to the season with three goals in four games, he recently spoke to Mais Futebol about his own future.
And of course with Ronaldo the hot topic of the moment in Portugal as well as England, there was an obligatory question on the great man.
Martinez was asked he if thought there was a possibility that Ronaldo could have returned to rivals Sporting.
He responded: “I believe that returning to Sporting was more a wish than a possibility, I believe.
“With what he does in every game, I believe he can continue playing at the level of the club he signed (United). It’s in view with what he did in the last game (for Portugal)
“Perhaps he will continue to play until he is 50 years old, with the physical capacity he has.”
Ronaldo makes you believe
Ronaldo’s sheer quality makes you believe that anything is possible. He is still playing at the highest level, finishing as top scorer at Euro 2020.
He has a relentless motivation to be the best, and it seems like he can achieve anything he sets his mind to.
If Ronaldo wants to play until 50, you can bet he will do everything in his power to make it happen and redefine what is possible.
Ronaldo already hold numerous records, and if he keeps on playing for 10 plus years, his figures will become impossible for anybody to ever catch.
His quest to become the greatest ever gives him plenty of reason to extend his career as long as possible.
While possible he may want to return to Sporting eventually, Manchester United could end up with Ronaldo for more than the initial three years he has signed up to.
