The return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United and the Premier League has created an uncontrollable sense of hysteria around the club.
But the excitement surrounding the 36-year-old coming back to England stretches far greater than Old Trafford.
Everton winger Andros Townsend has revealed he and his Everton teammates are ‘giddy’ over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side having the legendary forward back at the Theatre of Dreams.
It’s extremely rare for another team’s signing to make opposing players excited, but that’s Ronaldo for you, it just highlights the magnitude and pull having CR7 in your ranks brings.
‘Idol’ Ronaldo is pure box office

Speaking on talkSPORT as co-host about Ronaldo’s return, Townsend said: “I think everyone is a little bit giddy. My era growing up 15, 16, 17 was Ronaldo’s prime at Manchester United, scoring all those goals, inventing a new way to kick a ball.
“He was our idol growing up. It’s amazing for me to hopefully share the pitch with him.”
United face Everton at Old Trafford on 2nd October where Townsend will probably be willing to fight his teammates to get his hands on Ronaldo’s shirt at the end of the match.
Ronaldo will strike fear into opponents

Townsend’s comments highlight the respect for a man who continues to break records at a staggering pace.
But whether players are looking at Ronaldo in awe or fear, the Portuguese talisman will be focusing on doing what he does best and leading his team to trophies.
The sheer presence of Ronaldo will strike fear into opposition teams, but it will also serve as extra motivation to shut out one of the games all-time greats.
One thing is for sure, in games where United have struggled to break teams down or have dropped points against sides in the bottom half of the table, there is arguably no better player ever in the clutch moments than Ronaldo, who will no doubt rescue us on several occasions.
The plaudits and adulation Ronaldo has gained throughout his illustrious career are thoroughly deserved, but if he carries United into a new era of success post Sir Alex Ferguson, his legacy will surely reach new dizzy heights.
