Manchester United could be about to sign Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid Tynan Thompson this summer. Here is everything you need to know about the 18-year-old.
After the success of Ayden Heaven, Manchester United have been keen to repeat this coup with an undervalued youngster from a rival.
Heaven cost £1.5m from Arsenal’s academy, quickly becoming a first-teamer for United, and has been excellent during his limited appearances.
Now, 18-months on, United could be about to repeat this move with Tottenham winger Tynan Thompson.

Do you agree with Ineos’ recruitment model of signing wonderkids?
Manchester United linked with Tynan Thompson
One of the best young talents in North London is 18-year-old Tynan Thompson, and according to reliable academy news account on X, The Secret Scout, United are in pursuit of him.
United are looking to sign Thompson from Spurs this summer, the report claims. United found out he was available last week and is now moving swiftly to have him undergo a medical before completing the transfer.
It is added that United want a deal for Thompson done quickly, likely to avoid any other clubs coming in to challenge for his signature, although Hamburg are said to be in the race.
Spurs insider Szyexcl also added to this by claiming that Thompson was at Carrington on Friday ahead of the deal being announced.
A move like this is Jason Wilcox’s specialty, and so if he is pushing for Thompson, you can be sure he will be a big success.

Who is Tynan Thompson?
Thompson is an 18-year-old left winger currently playing for Tottenham at a U21 level. He is also a seven-time England U18 international.
- Full name: Tynan Torres Thompson
- Date of birth: 17/04/2008 (18)
- Place of birth: London, England
- Position: Left-winger
- Clubs: Lambeth Tigers (Youth), Tottenham (Youth-U21)
Thompson was born in London and has played for Tottenham most of his career from a young age. However, with limited opportunities and a lack of a pathway at Spurs, he is seeking a new club this summer, opening the door for United.
An exciting, direct, and modern goal-scoring winger, Thompson stands at 6ft 1in and has been likened to Marcus Rashford, although his physicality isn’t quite at that level.
The 18-year-old is considered one of Tottenham’s finest talents in the current academy crop, and Spurs reporter and content creator Jordan Ellis highlights that Thompson has the traits to adapt to senior football quite seamlessly.
Spurs fans are disappointed to be losing Thompson, which should tell United supporters that they are potentially getting a gem.
Thompson would face stiff competition in the academy ranks for United, up against Noah Ajayi and JJ Gabriel for academy minutes and also for the chances in the first-team.
Thompson’s impressive stats for Tottenham
He might be a little raw, but Thompson is exactly what United are looking for in a left-winger this summer, which suggests that he is viewed in a similar vein to Heaven, a first-team signing.
Thompson is quick, strong, and isn’t afraid to get on the ball and take defenders on, which United have been lacking.
He is also capable of scoring a goal and assisting.
| Competition 25/26 | Games | Goals | Assists |
| PL2 | 16 | 3 | 4 |
| UEFA YL | 7 | 7 | 2 |
| EFL Trophy | 2 | 2 | 0 |
| FA YC | 1 | 1 | 0 |
Thompson’s most impressive performances came in the UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy, which is very encouraging and suggests he could be a player who excels when in first-team football.
A deal to be very excited by, don’t be shocked if Thompson is playing for United before Christmas.
