Sales of Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo shirts have broken the record for fastest selling shirt in online Premier League history.
‘Ronaldo 7’ shirt sales reached £68.1m in the first 72 hours since United officially announced Ronaldo’s return to the iconic jersey which was made possible thanks to Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan will now wear the number 21 shirt, following the departure of Dan James, the number he was worn for his national side for the last 10 years.
The Red Devils have now recouped half of the £12.9m fee the club paid Juventus to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford (£6.81m commission from Ronaldo shirt sales boost) after he left the club in 2009 to join Real Madrid for a world-record £80m fee.
Manchester United’s new home shirt sales are currently up 13% year-on-year. Signings of Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have given the club a boost in sales.
United sit third in shirt league table

With the English football season well underway for all 92 league teams, LovetheSales.com have shared data on which new 21/22 kits are selling the fastest.
Data is compiled from sales figures across 1,000 online retailers. Many factors impact club’s shirt sales; popularity, silverware, new signings, promotion and relegation and of course the design of the kit itself.
United currently sit third in the shirt standings, behind Liverpool (2nd) and Chelsea (1st). The twenty-time champions are one place higher than they were last year.
