Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes says he is ‘gutted’ by the team’s defeat to Young Boys.

Echoing the feelings of supporters, Fernandes expressed his disappointment at the 2-1 loss.

Goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo also expressed his intent to bounce back quickly after the loss.

It had started so well

Fernandes provided his first assist of the season with his cross for Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener.

Fernandes somehow squeezed his pass between two players to find Ronaldo unmarked in the box, who finished with his first shot on target.

This was one of just two shots on goal United managed all night, with the team’s ambition and fluidity dented by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s red card.

Reduced to 10 men, United took off Jadon Sancho, and then Donny van de Beek, to bring on two defenders.

This left Fernandes and Ronaldo too isolated in attack and eventually Young Boys picked off United’s defence to score an equaliser.

A disastrous late backpass from substitute Jesse Lingard let the home side in to score a winner.

United have another away trip up next, facing West Ham at the London Stadium.

Solskjaer’s side remain unbeaten away from home in the Premier League, but our record in the Champions League must improve.

After the win away at PSG to start last season, United have now lost three consecutive Champions League away games.

With trips to come to Atalanta and Villarreal, United have to improve in order to qualify from the group.
