Alejandro Garnacho’s goal drought continued as Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup.
After a gruelling 120 minutes of action at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s FA Cup defence came to an end after losing to Fulham in a penalty shootout.
Ruben Amorim failed to name a full bench against Fulham with his United squad plagued with injuries, but one of the seven substitutes available was Alejandro Garnacho, and he was called upon early in the second half.
Garnacho made United a “better team” according to Micah Richards, as he came off the bench and injected some much-needed pace and intensity into United’s attacking play.
Despite making a positive impact, Garnacho has failed to score in 21 games for United. His lack of form is contributing to United’s goal crisis.

Alejandro Garnacho apologises after Fulham defeat
There were a few attitude concerns last week when Garnacho walked down the Old Trafford tunnel after being taken off against Ipswich Town.
Garnacho ‘looked moody’ against Everton after starting on the bench, and concerning claims suggested Garnacho was arguing with Amorim.
However, Garnacho paid for a team dinner to settle any concerns. He has also decided to apologise to United fans after the FA Cup defeat.
Via his Instagram story, Garnacho posted a photo of him at Old Trafford with a three-word message: “Sorry United fans”.

Garnacho was not the only United star to say sorry with Joshua Zirzkee apologising to fans after he missed a crucial spot-kick in the shootout.
Ruben Amorim needs Alejandro Garnacho to step up
Amorim has been left extremely short of attacking options following the January transfer window.
With Marcus Rashford joining Aston Villa and Antony leaving on loan for Real Betis, Amorim has been left with a strike force of just Rasmus Hojlund, Zirkzee, Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho.
Amad Diallo’s season is over following an ankle injury, so Amorim will need Garnacho to step up and chip in with more goals.
Amorim has backed Garnacho to shine, but it is yet to result in a return to form.
Up next for United is the crucial Europa League first-leg clash against Real Sociedad, and no doubt Garnacho will play a key role either as a starter or as an impact substitute.
