Manchester United dropped points after drawing 2-2 to Everton in the Premier League’s early kick-off at Goodison Park.
Following a familiar trend, Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils were abysmal in the game’s early stages.
Goals from Beto (19′) and Abdoulaye Doucoure (33′) made the mountain too big to climb, and failure to hit back before the break saw Manchester United score just one first-half goal in 17 games across all competitions.
There are some positives to take, though. Not only did Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte rescue a point, but one player, who was dropped to the bench, proved he deserves to start against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.

Alejandro Garnacho disappointed by Everton snub
Alejandro Garnacho was named among the substitutes against Everton — the biggest talking point before kick-off.
The Argentine saw Fernandes named in a wider role and expected to interchange with Joshua Zirkzee. As a result, Garnacho, who scored an insane goal against Everton on this ground last season, missed out.
Consequently, according to Manchester Evening News’ Steven Railston, the 20-year-old arrived at Goodison Park ‘looking a tad moody’.
Well within his rights
Every player wants to play matches and Garnacho is no exception. The South American was understandably disappointed not to start but his inclusion in the second half would have certainly given his manager something to think about.
Garnacho came on for Casemiro, who was one of Manchester United’s worst players against Everton, after 62 minutes and changed the match.
| Garnacho vs Everton | Statistic |
| Minutes played | 28′ |
| Dribbles (successful) | 1 (1) |
| Passing accuracy | 100% |
| Duels (won) | 4 (3) |
| Was fouled | 2 |
The winger’s introduction, which saw him drive at the Toffees’ backline, flipped momentum into the away team’s favour.
While the United manager won’t want to be undermined by unhappy players, he will love Garnacho’s willingness to help the side, and his 30-minute performance certainly proved he was within his rights to feel aggrieved not to start.
