Manchester United took all three points off Ipswich Town but it wasn’t pretty. More questions have been raised following the victory than they have answered.
The Red Devils welcomed Kieran McKenna’s Tractor Boys to Old Trafford for Game Week 27 in the Premier League. The match was an exciting one for the neutrals but did nothing to ease the pressure on Ruben Amorim.

Narrowly winning, United beat Ipswich Town 3-2 thanks to an own-goal from Sam Morsey, a goal-line scramble from Matthijs de Ligt and a game-winning header from Harry Maguire.
One player didn’t have much of a part to play, though. He was sacrificed after 45 minutes following Patrick Dorgu’s red card.

Alejandro Garnacho warned over Ruben Amorim rift
Alejandro Garnacho was enjoying a decent match until Dorgu was shown a straight red for a stupid challenge on Omari Hutchinson. The Argentine was subsequently hauled off for Noussair Mazraoui.
Pictured trudging off the Old Trafford pitch with slumped shoulders, Garnacho was clearly, and perhaps understandably, unhappy to be the player to be sacrificed, but Steve Nichol believes his attitude, which has included ‘arguing’ with the United manager, could land him in hot water.
“He’s walking on thin ice, Garnacho — he is,” he told talkSPORT.
“If you look at the league table, there’s not a player at Man United who can complain to the manager if they’re not playing, or getting brought off. Look at where they are in the league.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s arguing with the manager, he’s arguing with the tactics and he’s throwing his toys out the pram when he gets brought off. He’s going to ruin his career if he carries on.”
Set for summer of uncertainty
Garnacho was heavily linked with leaving Manchester United during the January transfer window.
Napoli and Chelsea expressed an interest in signing Garnacho, but a move failed to materialise, forcing him to continue at Old Trafford until the end of the season. It appears the recent uncertainty has unsettled him behind the scenes.
Garnacho is likely to see his future at United questioned again in the summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe battles to comply with the Premier League’s rules on Profit and Sustainability (PSR), and with the South American being a homegrown talent, he’s a valuable asset and one that could easily be offloaded.
Fans, obviously, do not want to see the 20-year-old leave, especially if it ends up with a rival, but the overriding feeling is that the club must back Amorim, and if he is at loggerheads with Garnacho, then the best thing for the club, as a whole, might be to sacrifice the player rather than revisit the managerial conveyor belt.
