Sverre Nypan breaks silence on his future, ‘very happy’ Man Utd target hints at ‘agreed’ transfer exit in summer

Manchester United were expected to finally make a move to sign Sverre Nypan during the January transfer window.

Having turned 18 in December, Manchester United could have formalised interest in Sverre Nypan.

Before the transfer window, reports claimed United were closing in on Nypan. However, the ‘dream move’ suddenly collapsed for Nypan.

United backed away from a deal which thrust Arsenal into pole position – yet when the transfer window closed, Nypan remained at Rosenborg and looks set to play in the Eliteserien this season for his boyhood club.

Now, the generational Norwegian talent has spoken about his future and revealed what happened during January as he travelled around England visiting clubs.

Sverre Nypan opens up on ‘little trip’ during January transfer window

United wanted to sign Nypan for years, with January the first chance for him to actually join the club he supports.

However, speaking with Rosenborg’s club media on YouTube, Nypan has now explained he is happy to see out the next six months with the Norwegian side.

“It has been a bit demanding, but I think I have come out of it quite well. I’ve learned a lot from it here and have gotten a taste of what it’s going to be like going forward.

“I have been on a little trip and have seen how things are and how they are doing. It has helped me with the thoughts that I have had and the thoughts going forward.

“I have been quite close to leaving Rosenborg, but we have agreed that being here for the next six months is the best thing for me now. And I am very happy with the choice I have made.

Manchester United will return for Sverre Nypan despite Arsenal interest

United are still expected to want Nypan in 2025, with the PSR concerns in January not allowing a move to be made last month.

United in Focus understands via Graeme Bailey, that Nypan is a lot closer to Arsenal than United right now.

Arsenal’s ace in the bid to sign him is Martin Odegaard who is Nypan’s country-man and is proving vital in convincing the teenager.

That being said, it is no secret of the love Nypan has for United and so it would be logical to assume a renewed interest from Old Trafford could change the tides on this deal.

If Nypan isn’t signed, then many would see it as United dropping the ball – but perhaps Ineos have an even better prospect lined up for the summer.
