Who are INEOS?

INEOS is a British multinational chemicals company headquartered in London, UK. It was founded in 1998 by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. INEOS is one of the world’s largest chemical producers, with operations spanning across Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond.

The company’s business activities include the production of petrochemicals, speciality chemicals, and oil products. It operates in various sectors, including chemicals, oil and gas, and manufacturing, and its products are used in a wide range of industries such as automotive, construction, healthcare, packaging, and more.

Who is the INEOS owner?

The owner and founder of the company is Sir Jim Ratcliffe. He founded the company in 1998 and served as its chairman and majority owner until his retirement in 2021.

He has ventured into many other businesses since going down the chemical company path – with a huge affiliation to sports, hence the purchase of his supported club Manchester United.

What sports teams do they own?

INEOS owns or has owned stakes in several sports teams. Notably, INEOS has been involved in cycling through sponsorship and ownership of professional cycling teams such as Team Ineos (now known as INEOS Grenadiers) and its successor INEOS Grenadiers, which competes in events like the Tour de France.

Additionally, Ratcliffe and co have ventured into football by acquiring ownership stakes in clubs like French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice and Swiss Super League club FC Lausanne-Sport. They also now own Manchester United alongside the Glazer family.

INEOS Net Worth

INEOS is the fourth biggest chemical engineering company in the world, with an estimated turnover of £59.3 billion, and they produce a range of petrochemicals, speciality chemicals, and oil products.

As for Ratcliffe, According to the 2023 Sunday Times Rich List, Ratcliffe is worth a whopping £29.3bn. This made him Britain’s second richest man.

Will INEOS sponsor Manchester United?

There are no plans for INEOS to be the shirt sponsor of Manchester United. This could however change in the future, but is probably unlikely.
