Man Utd closing in on first signing of 2025 – Ineos set to sign Ruben Amorim a ‘generational talent’

2025 is now just around the corner, and despite a solid opening month as the Manchester United head coach, Ruben Amorim will be considering additions.

Ineos dropped the ball in the timing of changing manager, handing Ruben Amorim a bad hand from the get-go.

Amorim was appointed and immediately launched into a game every three days, leaving practically zero time on the training ground at Carrington to work with his players.

Despite this, Manchester United have only lost two games – through individual errors – and of course won the Manchester derby, the biggest win of the season to date.

Now, Jason Wilcox’s job is to find some shrewd additions for Amorim and get rid of unwanted players in order to give the Portuguese coach the best chance of success going forward. This could see Marcus Rashford leave after his admission on Tuesday.

Ineos closing in on Sverre Nypan deal

One shrewd addition to United’s ranks which has looked to be on the cards for over a year is Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan. With United leading the race for Nypan, a deal can finally be struck.

The 17-year-old midfielder turns 18 later this week, which means he can now join a Premier League club considering the rules against signing foreign U18 players after Brexit.

Now, Give Me Sport has reported that United have intensified efforts to sign Nypan in January, with progress being made in an effort to recruit the latest Norwegian wonderkid.

United are closing in on the signing of Nypan, but are desperate to avoid hindering his development.

So Ineos are currently gauging whether he is ready to join Amorim’s squad or whether other routes need to be taken such as a loan.

Nypan has been branded a ‘generational talent’ and a deal is expected to cost United £10m up front with add-ons and extras likely to bring the fee closer to £20m.

Nypan could benefit from Mason Mount’s situation

Joining United would be a dream come true for Nypan, with the teenager being an avid fan. His Rosenborg teammates even gifted him a United calendar for Christmas.

However, making the move would only be the start for the midfielder tipped for greatness. Nypan had a remarkable season in the Eliteserien, confirming his status as a breakout star who has outgrown the league, with all due respect.

Nypan’s dominance in Norway should give United some confidence that he will settle well and if he does, he could very easily fill the role Mason Mount expected he would be in prior to yet another injury.

Mount lasted 12 minutes against City as he seems incapable of staying fit. Nypan offers a similar quality in terms of winning the ball high up the pitch and creating chances, so we think Amorim would love the addition of Nypan.
