Manchester United stance on Sverre Nypan
United will hope to get Heaven signed up amid interest from Barcelona but one player who seemingly won’t be joining is Sverre Nypan.
Rosenborg wonderkid Nypan has been on the United radar for a while now.
Nypan branded a potential United move a ‘dream’ – but it seemingly won’t be coming true.
Reports earlier in January suggested that United had been ruled out of the running for Nypan.
Some wondered whether it was Nypan who was looking elsewhere, but The Mirror (26/01, p71) report that it’s United who have cooled the interest.
Manchester City are also understood to have backed off from Nypan, leaving Arsenal as the favourites for his signature.
Aston Villa as well as Brighton and Hove Albion are keen on Nypan, but he seemingly won’t be heading to Old Trafford.
It’s unclear just why United have decided to move on from Nepal, with reports as recently as September suggesting that United were planning a move for Nypan.
United must hope that Nypan isn’t another Lucas Bergvall though, with the Swede now shining at Tottenham Hotspur.
Nypan Manchester visit raises questions
The reports suggest that Nypan isn’t heading to Manchester with both United and City seemingly backing away.
Arsenal may well be the favourites but Nypan has set tongues wagging this weekend.
The teenage midfielder has visited Manchester this weekend and watched Manchester City beat Chelsea from Erling Haaland’s VIP box at the Etihad Stadium, according to Adressa in Norway.
Perhaps that is just one Norwegian player helping out another, but his trip to Manchester may just be transfer-related in some way.
Nypan has been dubbed a ‘generational talent’ and with United seemingly moving on, we may well see him in action against Amorim’s side moving forward.
