Manchester United have already made three signings this summer, but how much have they actually spent when sales are considered?

It has been a busy start to the 2026 summer transfer window for Manchester United with three signings already added to Michael Carrick’s squad.

A £48m deal for Andrey Santos was the first to be finalised by United, followed by the signing of free agent Karl Darlow. A £35m deal for Youri Tielemans made him the third signing of the summer.

United pulled out of a £38m deal for Ederson after growing concerns over his fitness. There is plenty of space and budget for more signings, especially when sales are included.

What is Manchester United’s net spend in 2026?

United missed out on any expected fee for Marcus Rashford after Barcelona chose not to trigger his buy clause this summer, but Ineos have cashed in on Rasmus Hojlund and earned from Mason Greenwood’s sell-on fee.

Total spent: £83m

Total earned: £49m

Net spend: £34m

From Greenwood’s £35.6m move to Fenerbahce, United have reportedly earned £11m, which will be banked in the 2026/27 financial period. The £38m transfer fee for Hojlund from Napoli was banked in the previous financial period as it was completed before the June 30 cut-off date.

What is Manchester United’s remaining transfer budget?

Heading into the summer, it was widely reported that United have a £250m budget for transfers this summer.

The club’s PSR position is strong after boosting revenue and cutting the wage bill. A return to the Champions League has also provided a significant financial boost.

Considering the net spend so far this summer is just £34 million, that means Ineos still have a sizeable budget to play with for the rest of the window.

United still want one more midfield signing, according to David Ornstein. The club are targeting a more defensive-minded player.

There have also been links to a left-back, left winger and striker.
