Manchester United fans react to Youri Tielemans' deal for £35m

Manchester United are on the verge of signing Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.

It emerged out of nowhere on Monday that Manchester United are set to finalise a deal to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.

United have activated Tielemans’ £35m release clause, which means Aston Villa can do little to block the transfer, with the Belgium international set to jump at the opportunity to join the biggest club in the Premier League.

Now that progress is being made on a deal to sign Tielemans, United fans have given their verdict.

While this week’s Tielemans news caught United fans off guard, many of those who reacted on TalkingPoints view the deal as an excellent piece of business.

It bodes well that Tielemans is arriving with plenty of Premier League experience, having been a key player at Leicester City before joining Aston Villa in 2023.

Honestly it’s a great move. Adds vital Premier League experience alongside Mainoo and Santos and also happens to weaken a competitor. Top value, he can do a little bit of everything, we should have signed him years ago. And there is probably another signing to come

I think this makes sense.So many mids been linked but most england based players are so inflated but youri is at a great age,great experience,goals,as a playmaker,it makes total sense.We now need a couple of tough def mids,hopefully baleba and another tough midfielder from abroad who is younger than say 25.

Should have signed him ages ago I’ve always liked him and now pundits are saying we’re going to reignite interest in Baleba and calling him a PL demon who’s going to be the missing puzzle piece for Carrick

I’m disappointed. Not really surprised by INEOS’s dealings, though. Tielemans was okay at Leicester. He’s 29 now. Just check his injury history on Transfermarkt. If we wanted to build a top-class midfield that would last for years to come, we should have prioritized Konaté and Wharon, with Nmecha and Bouaddi as alternatives. A repeat of the 2023/2024 season?

I have already commented on this but since then i have seen his injury record and it’s not good. If we gave up on the Ederson deal because of injury issues then how are we getting around this one. On his day and fit he will be a great signing but we don’t want to go down the same uncertainties as with Mount when we signed him.

Another Leicester fan here. This is an absolute outstanding signing. He’s one of best passers of a football in the Premier League. He’s a metronome… keeps it ticking but knows when to up the intensity and split lines. He can score wonder goals, take set-pieces and penalties. He’s a great egg and has been a captain since a teenager at Anderlecht. Superb 👏

He’s our best player and one of our best signings in recent times. I said before, I would rather lose Rogers than Tielemans. He makes the Emery system tick. Period! Whether he plays deep or furthet forward. Youri’s been a constant 8/10 without having to score or assist. Proper gutted we are losing him.
