Manchester United’s transfer position on Ederson has now emerged after the Red Devils failed in their bid to sign the Brazil and Atalanta midfielder this summer.
Ederson was on the verge of becoming the first signing in the ‘Michael Carrick era’ of the Premier League club after Manchester United agreed a deal to sign him.
The Red Devils were prepared to pay an initial fee of £35m, including a further £3m in add-ons, to land the 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder from Serie A outfit Atalanta.
However, United’s agreement for Ederson in June would lead to the deal for the Atalanta player collapsing in July ahead of his proposed move to Old Trafford.

WHO should Manchester United sign instead if the deal for Ederson has COLLAPSED?
Man Utd refuse to rule out rekindling their interest in Brazil and Atalanta player Ederson this summer
Speculation had mounted last week that Manchester United’s move for Ederson had fallen through due to concerns over a knee injury that the Brazil international had.
United have since completed their acquisition of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and the Red Devils are now on the verge of signing Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has now revealed that the Red Devils will not proceed with their initial deal of £38m for Atalanta player Ederson this summer.
However, Sky Sports reports that Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that United are ‘not ruling out signing’ Ederson if a deal can be made at a ‘renegotiated price’ point.
