Man Utd offered chance to sign ‘very strong’ striker this month, Jason Wilcox had clear response

Manchester United need goals and has been offered a player who could have helped with that problem.

Despite having a striking duo who cost a combined £100m, Ruben Amorim has quickly found neither are bringing the goals in.

Amorim has admitted to wanting another striker, and this has seen a number of options linked with joining Manchester United.

United were linked with moving for Victor Osimhen, with a swap deal eyed in order to hand Amorim his dream signing.

Another elite option United could yet move for this year is Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres. Amorim loves Gyokeres and he would be available for £50m this summer.

Now, it has been revealed that United were offered the chance to sign a different level of forward this month.

Manchester United offered Brian Brobbey

Despite financial constraints, United want to sign a striker this month. But one player who will not be joining is Ajax’s Brian Brobbey.

Brobbey is a name which was often linked over the past few years, as Erik ten Hag was a big fan. In the past, Brobbey has been outspoken over liking United,

Now, United in Focus understand that the Dutchman was once again on the table this month for United, as Graeme Bailey explains.

“Obviously he’s a player Man United fans know a lot about, he was linked during the Ten Hag era. My understanding is even recently, in the last week or so, United have been made aware of his situation.

“They’ve been offered him and made aware he could move this month. Tottenham were offered as well but now West Ham is in talks.”

United in Focus also understands, however, that United had a clear response – which was in their lack of a response.

“So despite being offered him, I don’t think United have done anything with that information.”

This is good news, with Brobbey worse than both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund with one goal in 17 Eredivisie games this season.

Jason Wilcox is spot on to reject Brobbey

It is no shock that United were offered Brobbey, but it speaks volumes that no action has been taken. If Ten Hag had still been here, it could have been a very different story, and United would be stuck with another disappointing striker.

Brobbey praised Ten Hag for making him ‘very strong’ – which explains why he was linked for each of the last couple of summers.

However, the new footballing structure has clearly taken control and Ten Hag isn’t here anymore.

As a player, Brobbey is nowhere near the quality United should be looking for. So it would have been a bizarre move if he joined, West Ham is a much better fit.
