The 2024 summer transfer window closed nearly three weeks ago, yet already Manchester United are thinking of 2025.
Ineos enjoyed a strong opening summer at the helm of Manchester United, with five big-name additions and multiple elite youth talents joining the ranks.
While names like Manuel Ugarte are exciting, for many it is the deals for Danish striker Chido Obi-Martin and Malian midfielder Sekou Kone deals which are the most enticing, as they show a long-term ambition and plan from the footballing department at the club.
The role of Christopher Vivell in particular will be key in making these teenage additions, as the club’s previous administration would not have been so willing.
But after adding multiple wonderkid-level talents in the summer, there are more being targeted and now United have reinforced interest in one name which has been linked for a long time, Sverre Nypan.

Manchester United send scouts to watch Rosenborg vs Lillestrom
Sverre Nypan has been a long-term target by United, stretching back into 2023 at least – and the fact interest remains is a real sign that he is a serious target.
It was reported over the weekend that United already have a plan to sign Nypan in 2025, having had to wait until he turned 18 due to the rules of Brexit.
Now, scouts have reportedly been sent to Norway to watch Rosenborg against Lillestrom with Nypan starting in central midfield in this game.
It is according to TV2Sport that scouts from both Bayer Leverkusen and United were present at the game in which Nypan struggled after being ill in recent weeks.
The game was the reverse fixture of one Nypan scored a hat trick in on August 21st which shows he may be struggling to get back up to speed.
Interest from Bayer – and also Arsenal – shows United are right to be planning a 2025 swoop early in order to avoid missing out. Although with Nypan admitting his dreams of joining United, it should be a straightforward deal to complete.
Where Sverre Nypan could fit in for Erik ten Hag
The wonderkid recruitment drive at United has seen some talented names drafted from across the world.
Samuel Lusale has joined United from Crystal Palace and could even be in line to make his debut soon.
From Australia, right-back James Overy has arrived and they’re not alone with other talented prospects already at the club.
Kone and Obi are the two big names but if Nypan is signed, he could find himself being the gem of what would be a very exciting academy team.
Nypan would be unlikely to immediately be in first-team contention, and U21 football with some cameos for Erik ten Hag is probably the way his first year would go.
However, much like Obi and Kone, his talent potential is so high that it likely would not be long until he was knocking on the door and leaving the likes of Mason Mount worried.
