Manchester United are chasing one more signing before the transfer deadline but may already have a 2025 addition in mind.
Erik ten Hag is busy preparing for this weekend’s clash with Liverpool but Manchester United continue to work on potential deals.
Hannibal Mejbri has already joined Burnley this week and fellow midfielder Scott McTominay is set to join Napoli.
United are hoping to move on another player though with Jadon Sancho keen to join Chelsea despite an offer from Juventus.
United could end the week with three players out and one player in with Manuel Ugarte set to join from Paris Saint-Germain.
That may be the end of United’s business for the summer window but one player is surely wanted for 2025, even months months in advance.

Manchester United face Sverre Nypan battle
Signing young talents have been a real focus for United under Ineos.
Wonderkid defender Leny Yoro has arrived from Lille whilst United have teed up a deal to sign Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal.
That approach is likely to continue and one player on United’s radar is Sverre Nypan.
United have been scouting Rosenborg talent Nypan for a while now having been linked with him a year ago.
Fussball News added earlier in 2024 that United had made moves to try and sign Nypan.
The same outlet now has an update about Nypan as reporter Christopher Michel claims that United are ‘still interested’ in signing Nypan.
Michel highlights that Nypan is a United fan, which may provide some confidence over a move to Old Trafford.
However, Michel claims that Arsenal are keen to ‘enter the race’ and want to hold talks about a deal very soon.
United are now in danger of losing out on Nypan with Arsenal potentially eyeing up revenge having lost Obi-Martin this summer.
When can Nypan arrive in England?
Post-Brexit rules mean foreign players under the age of 18 cannot be signed in the Premier League.
Nypan is only 17 and doesn’t turn 18 until December 18th, which would line up perfectly for a January move.
Perhaps United or Arsenal will look to get a deal agreed with Nypan arriving as soon as the January window opens, with the battle now set to commence.
Michel noted that United have major pull in Norway with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s history at the club no doubt a major factor in that.
Arsenal do though have a Norwegian star in their squad right now though with Martin Odegaard the current Gunners skipper.
That will be a selling point for Arsenal to really push at Nypan in an effort to convince him to snub United and choose North London as his next destination.
