Ruben Amorim had some incredible footballers at Sporting Lisbon, but at Manchester United, he can work with some players who are even better.
The current Sporting Lisbon team is likely to be featured on the transfer shortlists of many of Europe’s elite clubs.
Geovany Quenda, Viktor Gyokeres and Goncalo Ignacio are just some of the talented players who shine weekly for the Portuguese giants.
Manchester United held an interest in all three of these players and more before Ruben Amorim was even announced to be the first head coach of the club. And despite Amorim’s insistence that he won’t poach Sporting’s players, this is likely to continue.
However, at Old Trafford, Amorim has some possibly world-class players to work with. However, there is one forward in particular who he is excited to be coaching, that being Marcus Rashford.

Ruben Amorim is a big Marcus Rashford fan
After struggling to find form for Erik ten Hag in the past year, Rashford could really shine under Amorim.
Now, United in Focus have spoken with Graeme Bailey from TBR about Amorim and his verdict on the United squad – with Rashford being singled out.
“Amorim really likes Rashford,” he explained.
Continuing, he added: “I did hear was he has always been a big fan of Marcus Rashford so we will see”.
However, United’s No.10 is not the only player Amorim is excited to work with, as Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte were also mentioned.
“I’ve heard Ugarte is one he has always really admired and likes a lot. I’ve heard Leny Yoro as well is a player he does like. Those are three he has admired from afar over the last few years.”
Ugarte is widely expected to benefit from Amorim’s arrival considering he was so good under him at Sporting. While it has been reported that Amorim considers Yoro to be a generational talent.

Amorim could resurrect Rashford’s Manchester United career
Despite improvements this campaign from Rashford, he is still far from the player that United know he can be.
Amorim however, will have plans to resurrect Rashford’s career and plans to do with a position change.
Despite often struggling as a striker for United in recent years, Amorim is planning to use Rashford up front.
If Rashford can undergo the same treatment Gyokeres had under Amorim, we could very quickly see the 27-year-old back at his best and maybe even better.
