Marcus Rashford is one player Ruben Amorim will envision turning world-class under his coaching at Manchester United.
Old Trafford’s No.10 has been far from his best in the last 18 months.
After a barnstorming 30-goal 2022/23 campaign, the heights have never quite been matched by Marcus Rashford.
Last season was a complete disaster for Manchester United’s star man, with on and off-the-field issues being factors.
However, this season Rashford has been slightly better, with four goals and three assists to his name after 18 appearances.
Now, new head coach Ruben Amorim has been reviewing the forward and has a plan to get Rashford back to his best.

Ruben Amorim’s plan for Marcus Rashford
Upon arriving through Carrington’s doors, Rashford will undoubtedly have been one of the players Amorim was most excited to start working with. Rashford will be at Carrington this week and has a chance to impress in the absence of other attackers.
That being said, the United of Amorim will be drastically different and this could mean Rashford’s familiar left-wing role is no longer suitable for him.
In the 3-4-3, the two players on either side of the striker are more inside forward/attacking midfield hybrids than traditional wingers – a role Rashford does not quite fit into.
So where does Rashford fit into the expected new Red Devils system?
Well according to a report from Give Me Sport, Amorim is set to offer Rashford the chance to impress him upfront.
It is explained that Rashford has emerged as Amorim’s ‘preferred’ striker option, with Rasmus Hojlund not quite starter level right now.
This would also make grim reading for £36m summer signing Joshua Zirkzee, with the Dutchman only months into his United career and yet it could already be near its end amid Juventus interest.

How Manchester United attack could function for Amorim
It would not be a shock to see Amorim use Rashford through the middle as he has been impressive there throughout his career when deployed.

So with the Englishman up front, we would assume the two behind him would be Bruno Fernandes on the left and then Amad Diallo on the right – both being excellent fits for this role.

This front three would see Fernandes and Amad almost sit as two wide number 10s, supporting Rashford and being creative – which both can do in abundance. The width would then come from the wingbacks, while Rashford would play to his strengths, running into channels and facing the goal.
This may not be how it shapes up, but it will be exciting to see how Amorim does field his team next weekend against Ipswich.
