The wait is finally over. Ruben Amorim is set to take charge of Manchester United on Monday morning.

Manchester United announced Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach last Friday but an agreement with Sporting Lisbon meant he stayed in Portugal until the November international break.

That is now right around the corner, with Amorim expected at Carrington on Monday morning following Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Leicester City.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken interim charge of the Red Devils since Erik ten Hag’s sacking, and the match against the Foxes will be his fourth and final game in the hot seat.

Van Nistelrooy is open to staying at United beyond his stint as interim, but ultimately that decision will come down to Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim must make Ruud van Nistelrooy decision

Amorim is set to bring his coaching team with him to United, which has put Ruud van Nistelrooy‘s future in doubt.

Despite Van Nistelrooy being open to staying, it comes down to whether Amorim wants him involved in his decision-making department.

Van Nistelrooy has been asked after each of his matches as interim whether he has held a conversation with Amorim about his future and his answer has remained the same – not yet.

It has now been reported by The Mirror that Amorim will hold crunch talks with Van Nistelrooy about his future on Monday.

Just hours into his first day as head coach, Amorim faces a very difficult decision over what to do with the legendary striker.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is adored by Man United

Van Nistelrooy will always be adored by the Old Trafford faithful, and many will want him to be kept on in Amorim’s backroom staff.

It has also been widely reported that United’s squad admire Van Nistelrooy and his management style.

Rasmus Hojlund has praised Van Nistelrooy, claiming that he has had a “big” effect on him during his short time in Manchester.

Van Nistelrooy expects to leave once Amorim takes charge, but perhaps there is still a place for him in the backroom staff. We will find out on Monday morning.
