Manchester United are close to appointing Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag’s departure and he won’t be arriving at Old Trafford alone.
Manchester United are busy preparing to face Leicester City in the Carabao Cup but managerial speculation is dominating the conversation right now.
United sacked Erik ten Hag on Monday and have wasted no time in picking out a top target to replace the Dutchman.
Reports on Monday suggested that Ruben Amorim had verbally agreed to join United from Portuguese side Sporting.
Sporting have now confirmed United’s move for Amorim with a deal seemingly accelerating at speed.
Amorim stands to earn around £6.7million-a-year at United, more than twice the salary he currently earns at Sporting.

Ruben Amorim to bring two coaches to Manchester United
Amorim has won two league titles with Sporting and certainly justified a big 2020 move from Braga.
There will now be questions over who Amorim will bring to Old Trafford with him.
Ten Hag was able to bring his Ajax assistant Mitchell van der Gaag to United and Amorim may follow suit.
Mais Futebol in Portugal report that Amorim is bringing two of his most trusted coaches with him to United.
It’s stated that Carlos Fernandes (pictured above) and Adelio Candido are set to leave Sporting and join Amorim in Manchester.
Who are Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido?
Fernandes was a youth team coach at Benfica before becoming Amorim’s assistant manager with Casa Pia.
A move to Braga alongside Amorim followed before also joining forces at Sporting, with Fernandes pretty much following Amorim from job to job.
Angola-born Candido has a similar story having coached alongside Amorim at Casa Pia, Braga and Sporting – all of his senior managerial jobs.
Candido is now being lined up to join Amorim again with United prepared to back the Portuguese boss with his most trusted lieutenants.
It’s difficult to find much important on playing careers for Fernandes and Candido, but they have made enormous progress in their coaching careers.
Fernandes is 29 and Candido is just 28, meaning they will be coaching players much older than them at Old Trafford.
Jonny Evans is much older than both Fernandes and Candido at 36, whilst the two coaches are even younger than United captain Bruno Fernandes.
Amorim clearly trusts both men enormously and will back them to lead experienced players on the training pitch once their moves to United are confirmed.
