Ruben Amorim is set to be appointed as Manchester United manager to replace Erik ten Hag.
Amid a fast-moving situation over the past few days, don’t worry if you missed an important update with some of the details.
Everything you need to know about Ruben Amorim to Manchester United is right here…
Is Ruben Amorim the Manchester United manager?
Soon. As of the morning of November 1 2024, Manchester United have not made a formal announcement. But an agreement is in place.
Ruben Amorim could be formally announced over the next 24 hours. But he won’t start right away.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue as interim manager for the next three matches.

When will Ruben Amorim start?
Ruben Amorim was ready to make a quick jump to come in and start at the weekend, and told Sporting he felt it could be detrimental to the team if he continued in charge, creating a circus.
But the Portuguese club have dug in with negotiations and will retain Amorim’s services until the international break.
According to Portuguese outlet Zero Zero, Amorim was shocked at the complicated nature of negotiations, as he was counting on a ‘faster and less conflictual’ process.
This means Amorim will not be released from Sporting until the international break around November 10, with a provisional start date of November 11.
His first Manchester United game would be away at Ipswich on November 24, and first home game in the Europa League against Bodo/Glimt on November 28.
Why the delay?
Sporting actually have a 30 day termination period in Amorim’s contract. This can be cut with United paying the £8.3 million release clause, which the club agreed to do.
The sticking point was Amorim’s desire to bring his coaching staff along with him, who had no release clause, and Sporting demanded an additional £4 million for their services.
United have agreed a far cheaper agreement, with a delay to their release.
Is an agreement signed?
Yes. Manchester United have agreed with Ruben Amorim to become the new manager.
He promises he will speak publicly about it once the clubs have formally announced it, which could be after Sporting’s match with Estrela Amadora on November 1.
Fabrizio Romano reports the deal is 100 per cent done.
Have Sporting found a new manager?
Yes. This will not be an issue. They are promoting Joao Pereira from the Sporting B squad to take over.
What will Ruben Amorim’s job title be?
Ruben Amorim is being referred to as the Manchester United head coach, instead of manager.
This is a first for the club, and was clarified in the club’s announcement.
A head coach role represents a fit within the club’s new structure underneath sporting director Dan Ashworth, under Ineos.
Why Ruben Amorim?
Ruben Amorim is regarded as one of Europe’s top up and coming coaches, with a commitment to youth, a proven track record in his country, and smart tactical acumen.
Amorim would be United’s youngest manager since Sir Matt Busby, with United hoping he can bring long-term success to the club.
Dan Ashworth has been pushing for Amorim behind the scenes and has got his man, giving United a fresh start.
United believe Amorim will be able to get much more out of the current squad than Erik ten Hag was able to, with the team sitting in 14th position in the Premier League, and without a win in three Europa League games so far.
