Young prospect Max Taylor has not taken long to make an impression for his new club.

After his release from Manchester United at the end of June, Taylor had a trial spell with Slovenian side Maribor, before eventually signing for Rochdale.

Taylor has begun well for Rochdale, scoring in their 3-1 away win at Northampton Town.

The young defender was named in the League Two team of the week after his impressive display.

Great to see

After recovering from cancer, Taylor got his career going again in United’s academy, but the task of moving up to the first team was too big a step.

Taylor’s 2020/21 season was frustrating, after two potential Football League moves failed to come off, the young defender had to settle for a stint at non-league side Kidderminster.

While this began promisingly, the non-league season was cancelled due to Covid and Taylor returned early to finish the season with United’s under-23 side.

After a trial with Portsmouth, Taylor was released, tried his luck abroad, and then settled on a move to Rochdale.

It seems to be working out well, with Taylor helping the League Two side to their first away win of the season at the weekend.
