Manchester United fans won’t be getting too excited about the latest comeback from injury.

There is an update from Carrington, with Mason Mount returning after his latest injury problem.

Mount suffered a cut head in the defeat to Tottenham, but then also suffered an additional injury issue which kept him out of the past six matches.

It is unclear if Mount will be considered for selection this week in the Europa League in the match-up against PAOK.

Mason Mount’s latest comeback

Mason Mount has had more comebacks than a Sir Alex Ferguson team over the past year, trying to continually recover from injuries.

Mount’s fitness record has been dire, unable to establish himself as a player United can rely on, and his inconsistent game time has also meant his form has lacked spark.

This is the fifth time Mason Mount has ‘returned to training’ over the past 12 months after an injury lay-off.

You could go back a little further too into Mount’s initial injuries when he signed for the club, but for the the purposes of trying to be as concise as possible, we are just focusing on the past 12 months.

Mason Mount needs fresh start

Mason Mount is Manchester United’s number seven, and with this comes high expectations. Mount has not come close to the minimum level.

It says a lot that United played Mount’s former side Chelsea last week, and his absence was not even a topic of discussion.

This time Mount will not be playing under the manager who signed him, Erik ten Hag, who was fired a week ago.

He could feature under interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy briefly, before his fresh start really begins under new head coach Ruben Amorim.

What we really hope, is that Mount can stay fit until Amorim arrives on November 11.

The trouble has not necessarily been getting healthy, it has been staying fit. United fans don’t have the patience for wait for Mount to make a sixth comeback attempt in the past 12 months.
