Mason Mount has struggled at Manchester United since his move from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
After moving to Manchester United, Mason Mount was handed the number seven shirt at Old Trafford but has battled a succession of injuries since his move from Stamford Bridge.
Mount was signed for £55 million from Chelsea but has suffered a plethora of injury issues since his move to the North of England over a year ago.
Bruno Fernandes remains the undisputed first-choice attacking midfielder for the Red Devils and with Mount’s injury problems, he has been unable to force his way back in.

Mason Mount’s injury record
Unknown injury – missed 6 games 2023/24
After starting United’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest and the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in North London, Mount suffered an injury setback for the Red Devils.
United’s official website claimed Mount’s injury was a ‘small problem’ but the Englishman would go on to miss six games in all competitions.
This meant that United had to rely on Christian Eriksen or Scott McTominay in that midfield role for the Red Devils.
Calf injury – missed 21 games 2023/24
After returning for the Red Devils at the beginning of October, Mount would then pick up a calf injury during November which kept him out of a hefty portion of the season through a calf problem.
Mount did not feature as United won 3-0 against Everton in November, despite being earmarked for a return in that fixture, as the Englishman picked up a more severe injury problem.
The Englishman missed his reunion with Chelsea, a game which the Red Devils would win, and would not return until March 2024.
In total, Mount was out for 110 days and missed 21 games during that period as injury problems scuppered his debut campaign.
Hamstring injury – missed 3 games 2024/25
Mount had a good pre-season with United and looked set for an important campaign after being given starting roles in each of United’s opening two games.
However, like the season prior, Mount suffered an injury problem for United, this time with his hamstring, and would subsequently miss three games for the Red Devils.
The pressing structure without Mount seemed to be different and the Red Devils certainly missed that energetic driving force from midfield.
Head injury – missed 6 games 2024/25
Mount returned for United against Spurs at Old Trafford but had to be substituted after suffering a head injury for the Red Devils but it did not look to be a serious issue, which Mount himself backed up.
However, Mount then also missed United’s game against Porto in the UEFA Europa League and could be out further, potentially missing the game against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
He ended up missing six games in total, with another unspecified injury picked up in addition to the initial head wound.
Muscle injury – 2024/25
Mason Mount picked up an injury 12 minutes into the Manchester derby against City. The extent of the problem is yet to become clear.
