Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount’s spell at the club is going from bad to worse.

After the Manchester United defeat to Tottenham, there were a couple of injury issues to deal with.

Kobbie Mainoo limped off at half-time and had to undergo a hamstring scan, while Mason Mount had to leave the pitch with a head wound.

Mount was expected to make a swift recovery, while Mainoo was feared to have to miss time. Instead, the opposite is the case.

Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo latest

There was some good news for Erik ten Hag when Kobbie Mainoo appeared in Manchester United training at Carrington ahead of the Europa League clash.

The young midfielder is in with a chance to play against Porto, Mason Mount was curiously absent, and was not on the plane.

Erik ten Hag explained that in addition to his head wound, Mason Mount has picked up yet another problem.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference Ten Hag explained: “He had a head injury and picked up a knock so they are the two reasons why he’s not available.”

Mason Mount woes

Mason Mount’s latest injury blow is particularly embarrassing after he posted a message following the defeat to Tottenham.

Mount shared an image of his head being stitched up, along with a caption, “I’m all good, just a scratch, thanks for the messages.”

His smile managed to irk some fans coming hours after a defeat – and he also made no mention of this new injury.

Manchester United supporters expressed frustration with Mount’s injury-prone problems after he missed training.

Bruno Fernandes was due to serve a three game suspension before it was overturned, and Mason Mount was one of the contenders to replace him.

But it now seems as though Mount may not have been available in any case.

The extent of this latest injury is unclear, but it’s just another blow in a stop-start career at the club, with Mount on his second lay-off of the season already.

After his positive Instagram post, this latest development is just embarrassing for all concerned.
